Stuck on Tarot Magic

A tarot deck is one of the most versatile magical tools you can own. It can give you psychological insight into a question (how do I really feel about this situation?), a look at the likely outcome of a situation or decision, or show you changes that can influence the outcome in the direction you want it to go. It can be used to help find a story arc and insight into the characters in the novel you are writing. Or you can use it to do magic.

If you choose to do magic, you may find you need to remove certain cards from your deck for an extended period of time, that you would like to give a spell to a friend as a gift and that requires gifting cards, or that you need to deface or destroy certain cards.

You probably don't want to spend the money on multiple decks to be able to do these things. This is where tarot stickers can help.

You can put them on index cards to use in manifestation or to gift to friends. You can use them on your vision board to keep yourself on task and on track for your goals. You can bend, fold, spindle, and mark all over them and not destroy your main card deck. You can use them in crafts, including magical crafts such as ceramics or collages.

Here are a few spellwork suggestions that incorporate specific card images in their sticker form:

To help dispel depression, try the following:

Depression

  • 4 yellow mini candles and holders
  • Sun oil
  • 10 of Swords sticker
  • Yellow index card, sheet of construction or printer paper, or sticky note
  • Black permanent marker, the wider the better

Stick the 10 of Swords sticker to the center of the yellow paper. Boldly draw through the card with the slashed circle that is the universal strike out/Do Not Enter symbol.

Anoint the yellow candles from wick to base with the Sun oil. As you do this, say, "I invite light like the sun into my life and into my soul." Say this at least three times for each candle. Use the oil to draw suns on each corner of your paper. Place the candles on the paper, one on each corner, and light them.

Spend at least 10 minutes meditating on the most sunshiny, happy thing you can think of. (I would probably think of either bicycle riding on a sunny day, or paddle boarding.)

After 10 minutes, allow the candles to burn down while you enjoy a cup of herbal tea or another non-alcoholic drink you know you enjoy. Tuck the paper with the spell away in a safe place, and let it do its job for 28 days. After this, it can be disposed of by burning, burying, or in running water. The spell can be repeated when and as often as necessary. It is not a substitute for medical treatment, but can be a useful adjunct.

Tarot is a wonderful tool for writers and artists. A reading can help clarify your goals for the endeavor, it can provide images and concepts that trigger ideas, and you can do a a reading for your character!

You can also do a simple spell to help wake up your imagination and get you moving on your project.

Creativity

Anoint the orange candles from tip to base with Creative Energy oil, saying, "I have the talent. I have the skill. I free my imagination. I create as I will."

Stick the 6 of Pentacles sticker in the center of the paper. Write or draw symbols of your current creative endeavor on the paper around the sticker. Using the Creative Energy oil, draw a clockwise spiral from the center of the card outward to the edge of the paper while saying, "I own the talent, I own the skill, I own the energy to create what I will."

Place the candles in a triangle with the top point at the top edge of the paper and the base points on the bottom corners. Sit quietly for at least thirty minutes, staring at the card image until you lose focus and quit seeing it. Don't think of anything in particular. Let your thoughts wander where they will.

At the end of the meditation, use the pen and notepaper to quickly write down any ideas that came to mind, no matter how off the wall.

Let the candles burn down and put the paper with the sticker in your writing or painting area where you will see it and remember to let your thoughts go, not to try to force things, but to find the creative being inside you.

There are many other ways to use tarot stickers for magic. Put the Ten of Cups on your laptop. It will eventually wear off, but you can invoke completion, happiness, and satiety while it lasts. Replace as needed, or cover neatly with packing tape to seal in the good for longer. Stick the Four of Wands near your alarm panel. The Three of Cups would be good in the kitchen! Use your imagination and stick that tarot magic where you need it most!
